what we do

  • Consultation

This is a question/answer meeting between          you and the doctor.  This is an opportunity for you and the doctor to discuss the history and details of your condition/symptoms and whether upper cervical care is appropriate for you.

  • Physical Exam

Neurological, orthopedic, range of motion tests along with palpation of cervical spine are conducted to find the underlying cause of your conditions/symptoms.

  • X-rays

xray machineSpecific upper cervical
x-rays are taken.  Head clamps are used to hold the patients in position for accurate x-rays.  X-rays are analyzed and subluxation listings are generated which are specific and unique to each patient.  Precision x-rays and specific listings are the hallmark of upper cervical care.

  • Heat Scan

ScanA heating instrument is one of the objective tests that is used by an upper cervical doctor.  The heat scan reading is one of the tests used to determine whether you need an adjustment or not.

Full spine and cervical spine scans are taken to establish a foundation of your pattern prior to your first adjustment.

  • Leg Check

Leg CheckThis objective test involves checking the leg length at the first four levels of the cervical vertebra.  Upper cervical doctors use this test along with the heat scan reading to determine whether you need an adjustment or not.

the exam

The initial exam includes extensive orthopedic and neurologic testing which includes x-rays and other diagnostic procedures.  In addition, a careful spinal examination and analysis will be performed to detect any structural abnormalities which may be affecting or causing your condition.  All of these elements are important components of your total health profile, and vital to the doctor of chiropractic in evaluating your problem.  Upon completion of a thorough evaluation, Dr. Basarich will explain her findings, answer your questions and provide you with a personalized treatment plan.

If Dr. Basarich believes that you need additional diagnostic testing, or that Chiropractic treatment is not the best choice for your condition, she may make a referral at this time.

An “adjustment,” as doctors of Upper Cervical chiropractic use the term, means the specific correction of the cervical vertebrae which have abnormal position and movement patterns or fail to function normally.

Once Dr. Basarich has identified the problem, she will begin care by way of these adjustments.  Particular attention will be paid to that area of your spine where a spinal misalignment or “subluxation” has been identified via x-ray analyses.  The adjustment is done by hand, and consists of applying pressure to the areas of the spine that are out of alignment or that do not move properly within their normal range of motion.

Our adjustments don’t hurt!  You may experience a minor amount of discomfort during the adjustment which lasts only seconds.  Adjustments are extremely safe.
